Hi guys, today I’m going to talk about meeting face characters at Disney.
For many of you, character meet-and-greets are probably something you walk past on your way to the next ride. But this presentation is for you, because just one conversation can become the highlight of your entire day.
Let me start with a story.
First, a story. For those who don’t know, Disney just released a short “The Night Before the Royal Fitting”. In that short, Anna turned the castle upside down, looking for Queen Iduna’s dress, and explored the castle’s hiddens structure along the way.
So, when I met Anna at Royal Sommerhus, I offered her a little assistance: A Ground-penetrating radar.
I even mimed scanning the walls to demonstrate how it would work. And Anna? She immediately played along! She even asked me to keep this away from Kristoff. But Elsa overheard, so I had to catch her up
Then I took things one step further: suggested cold-proof clothes so Anna could ride the Nokk.
Her response? The clothes she makes only fit her.
And that became one of my favorite character interactions. But that’s just one example. I’ve had at least three other conversations involving even more bizarre topics, and the characters NOT ONLY play along, but they also even fully committed to the craziness and kept the conversations going.
And that’s what makes these interactions so special.
Simply, I brought an idea. They made it part of the story.
But, why it works? Anna’s search gave my radar idea a purpose in her world. But you do not need a technical topic - you can ask Belle if the Beast charges late fee for his library books, or even a real detail from your week. Bring one idea, connect it to their story, and they will do the rest.
And yes, adult plays too. a randomized study of 533 adults found short-term well-being benefits from one-week playfulness exercises.
So, you can know someone is performing and still enjoy helping build the scene.
